Leiomyosarcoma of the Transverse Colon

Abstract
Leiomyosarcomas occur only rarely in the colon and rectum.
Leiomyosarcoms are usually a symptomatic until they have grown large enough to produce obstruction and pain.
The great majority of these tumors are found in paients over 50 years of age.
The diagnosis can be established only by an exploratory operation, and positive diagnosis of leiomyosarcomas depends on a histologic examination of tissue obtained from the tumor.
Leiomyosarcomas is insensitive to radiation therapy and the methods of chemotherapy. The treatment is radical resection.
A case of leiomyosarcoma of the transverse colon is here in reported and a few literatures are reviewed.
